Scope and Contents
Files of the Central Area Office, including files of the Assistant Superintentdents for the Central Area Roland N. Patterson (1969-1971) and Richard Hunter (1972-1973), as well as other staff, including Curriculum Coordinators, Dorothy Sampson and Helen Elicker. The Central Region was eliminated after the 1972-1973 school year. Files continue as Region I under Deputy Supeerintendent Richard Hunter. Bruce Hunter became an Area Administrator for the Central Region in Region I in 1973-1974 - ca 1974-1975.

Biographical / Historical
The Central Area School Council (CASC) was formed in 1969. It's purpose was to improve the performance of African-American students through decentralization and community control of schools in the Central Area of Seattle. CASC was led by its first president, Jeri Ware. T.J. Vassar was Coordinator for the Council from 1973 to 1974. By 1981 the Council dissolved.
